Claims Process

It is important to know that every claim is unique, and each claim or suit will develop in its own way.
Throughout the pendency of any claim or lawsuit, you will be working with a claims representative from Physicians Insurance responsible for coordination of all activities on your claim, including investigation and research. The investigation will usually include a personal meeting with you.
If a specific claim is made against you, we will conduct an investigation on your behalf. This will usually mean securing the necessary medical records, consulting with independent physician experts, and providing a response to the claimant or the claimant’s legal counsel.
If you are involved in a lawsuit, we will select defense counsel who will represent you. We will work continually with your attorney, including assisting in investigation, keeping apprised of discovery, and monitoring the progress of the lawsuit toward resolution.
NOTE: Do not report claims, or refer to any specific claims, by e-mail or by fax. All claims must be reported to Physicians Insurance by phone or letter. Confidentiality is essential to the claims process, and transmission of claim information through the Internet could jeopardize the confidentiality of your claim.
