Meet Kasey Schneider
Clinical Risk Consultant
Kasey Schneider’s 30-plus years of healthcare experience and 10-plus years of nurse leadership, risk, and quality experience have all led her to her current role as Clinical Risk Consultant at Physicians Insurance. Inspired by her passion to support others, she’s excited to help policyholders tackle challenges and address potential risk exposures. “Being proactive and helping to put guardrails in place to reduce risks for our Members is what I love about working at Physicians Insurance,” she says.
Before joining Physicians Insurance in December 2024, she was a Clinical Risk Specialist for a Health System in Oregon. Prior to that, she was a Risk Manager for a small critical-access hospital in Washington, where Physicians Insurance was their carrier. “I received support from a clinical risk consultant on this team who is still here, and it was wonderful,” she says. Earlier in her career, she also held positions as a Quality and Compliance Coordinator and Chief Nursing Officer/Quality and Risk Director.
Now eager to use her knowledge and experience to guide others, Kasey is focused on building relationships and trust with policyholders. This includes getting to know different critical access hospitals and their unique needs. “I can see things through their lens,” she says. “I understand they often wear many hats. I think that helps me provide tailored support and guidance, because I’ve been where they are.”
Each day on the job may bring something different. For example, Members may have questions about consent when a patient doesn’t have a clear decision-maker. Or they may need help putting protocols in place to improve patient safety. In these and other scenarios, Kasey helps Members take proactive measures and leverage the many resources available through Physicians Insurance, including risk assessments, education, personal on-call advice, and a mentorship program specifically for risk managers on a steep learning curve. “When someone calls me or sends me an email and asks what I think about a situation, I can come back to them with resources to help,” Kasey says. “I’m making a difference, and that’s what keeps me coming back every day.”
Since joining Physicians Insurance, Kasey has been inspired by the collaborative approach among her teammates. For example, she recalls how a colleague from the Claims team reached out to share their insights when she was preparing to do her first risk assessment. “Everybody is really focused on learning, growth, and support,” she says.
This same spirit of collaboration and commitment carries over to relationships with policyholders. “If Members are in a difficult situation or need risk consulting services, they can call anytime and someone is here to help them,” Kasey says. “Having just been here a short time, I’ve created relationships, and those Members are already in frequent contact for support and guidance. It makes me feel good that they are relying upon me for my expertise.”
