Our Leading Well Provider Support Services promote clinician wellness and resilience by offering innovative coaching, education, consultation, and resources. Our goal is to help clinicians practice self-care, maintain a good work/life balance, and gain wisdom from their experience of an adverse event or litigation.

1:1 Support
Physicians Insurance offers confidential coaching for clinicians to ease the emotional impact of adverse events or litigation. This support can be accessed through the following key programs:
Peer Support
This program provides confidential, peer-to-peer support for clinicians. The program’s Peer Consultants have experienced adverse events and/or litigation themselves and have been specially trained to support their colleagues. Litigation Support
Our expertise in litigation support provides you resources to assist with litigation stress syndrome, and provides confidential coaching for members and their spouses.
Washington Physicians Health Program
WPHP assists healthcare professionals with medical conditions that may affect their ability to practice medicine safely. These conditions include substance use and behavioral health disorders, as well as physical and cognitive disorders. WPHP is a confidential resource to the maximum extent provided by law.
The expert assessment and monitoring programs of WPHP provide the basis upon which we advocate for healthcare professionals so that they can return to work. WPHP provides referrals for additional evaluation or treatment as needed. In addition to individual client services, WPHP offers wellness programs for healthcare professionals looking to improve their own stress-resilience and quality of life.

Our educational programs are designed to help members and their teams at any time—before, during, or after an adverse event takes place.

Continuing Medical Education (includes Category 1 CME credit)

Adverse Event Response Team (AVERT) Program Training: This 2½-hour training offers a groundbreaking, experiential education to ease the traumatic effects of a poor outcome, enabling clinicians and/or organizations to address the needs of patients, families, caregivers, and facilities.

Provider Support: Ensuring Effective Support after Adverse Events: This on-site program raises awareness around the emotional impact of adverse events on the health care team. Contact us to schedule.

Tailored education: We offer tailored education on a variety of topics, including caring for the caregiver, provider wellness and resilience, promoting patient safety through situational monitoring and provider wellness programs, and just culture in health care.

Balint Group Formation: A Balint Group is a group of providers who meet regularly and present clinical cases in order to better understand the physician-patient relationship. These programs are adopted as part of a facility’s QI program to protect confidentiality of the discussions. (CME is available.)

We offer ongoing consultation to help our members and organizations establish robust provider support programs of their own that promote cultures of wellness and safety.
